Grand Plans

We had grand plans this weekend to go climb a peak that we can see from the house, this was abadoned after weather and health considerations. Instead we went for a nice 9 mile bike. Loki ran at least 12 back and forth between us and then off to the side after a smell, but he was finally tired when we got him home.

Today we went on a small hike around our house with Heidi (Kari's cousin)


As you can see the aspens are starting to turn.
And we collected some fire wood from the pile down the road.

Steamboat Rally Race

The weekend of Sept 12th we went up to Steamboat/Hayden for the Colorado portion of the Rally America series. It looks like Travis Pastrana the motorcross racer/rally car driver won. Below are some pictures. http://www.rallycolorado.org/




A dog that was watching the sheep and chashing each car that drove away from one of the stages. A similar dog had attacked and injured a mtnbike racer a few months ago.

The first snow on the hills

We had our first bit of snow.

Summer Hut Trip to Jackel

This weekend was a company (REI Structural, Kari's) hut trip to the 10th Mountain Division, Jackel Hut outside of Camp Hale. We drove up in Jason's truck to haul the food and water, no hiking for us!!!



This was our first summer hut experience, but the second time we had been to this hut. It was nice to have a camp fire and hang out outside, instead of running back inside.

Rental with a view

So after 2 weeks of camping we moved into a place up in Wildridge. We have a direct view to the south right down to Avon and the slopes of Beaver Creak. We are renting a room in an older duplex surrounded by new homes selling in the 1.8 range. We don't know much about our landlord/housemate other than he rented us the room and then took off to Burning Man for two weeks while we watched his dog. This is the view from the front deck.

The living room is comfortable and filled with at least 20 plants, some of which are tacked to the ceiling as they stretch across the room. We also have a wood stove to supplement our heat this winter. But this means that we have to go out and collect firewood.

Forgetfullness in the digital age

Have you even come across a roll of exposed film that you had forgotten to develop? In the digital age one would think that these oversights wouldn't exist.... but low and behold we came across a 1GB SD card with semi-forgotten pictures from our drive from North Dakota to Colorado upon our return from SE Asia.

New Place

Hello All,
I know we haven't been putting much up here, so who knows if anyone is going to be reading this... but anyway.
We have found a new place, well at least for now. It consists of a fire ring and some pine trees and a nice flat spot to put up the tent. Yep, we are camping for the forseeable future. We have decided to call this the summer home. Still looking for a place to live, but it is harder to do up here than it is in Boulder.
