From Puebla we took the bus south over the chaparral and cacti covered mountains to Oaxaca City.
Oaxaca is beautiful little city with lots of culture and charm.
The area is famous for its food, especially interesting moles, Oaxaca (mozzarella style) cheese, its markets, and mescal industry.
Oaxaca supports an active arts and counter culture attitude. There are many evocative murals on buildings, regular protests and marches by the teacher's union, as well as street theater.
