Day 9 02 September 2010
Beach day at Dikili, sorry no pictures. It was a nice black sand beach with one cruise ship in the bay and a few condos in the hills.
Day 10 03 September 2010
Took the bus to Selcuk the hop off point for those visiting Ephesus. The afternoon was filled with the Ephesus Museum and a wander around in which we stumbled upon many of the other sights in town.
Statue of Artemis from the museum with a chest covered in extra breasts or bulls testicles.
The Ramadan fast is to be ended with pide (or pita bread), here at 7:30pm the bakers were hard at work (with a line 10 deep waiting to buy) on the nights freshly baked bread. Tables at restaurants are typically ready set to end the fast with dates, bread and water.
Blue tiles are common in mosques. Water spigots are common on the streets for washing before prayers and for any other reason you might need water. This was an uncommon tile style on top of what looked like a traditional mosque bathing area but we could not locate the mosque.
Isa Bey Camii 1375 This is the first mosque we have visited where the carpet is a culmination of smaller donated rugs as opposed to one large patterned carpet.
